When you were a kid, did you ever think to yourself, “I’ll never say that to my kid when I’m a parent? ” Most of us probably did at one time or another, and if you’re like me, you’ve probably repeated many of those lines since becoming a parent. It turns out that our moms were right about a lot of the things they said.
Eat your fruits and vegetables… Eating fruits and vegetables improves our health by lowering our risk of virtually every d產前護理. isease we can think of. Over 70% of all disease is preventable with good nutrition. More energy, better focus, clearer skin, less illness and fewer doctor visits… just a few of the reasons you should eat the recommended 7-13 servings of fruits and veggies every day.
Go play outside… We were country kids and a lot of our time outside was spent playing with our cousins who lived down the road. Some of my favorite memories are biking, building forts, snowmobiling, sledding, and playing “Kick-the-Can” and “Ghost in the Graveyard” after dark. Playing outside isn’t just for kids. For fresh air, exercise, sunshine, and fun with friends, go outside. It’s hard to be your best if you aren’t getting enough exercise and fresh air, so go outside and play with your kids, or take a walk around the block on your lunch break.
Don’t jump on the bed… Beds are for sleeping in. We don’t jump on the furniture. You’ll fall off and break a bone. All reasons I remember hearing for not jumping on the bed and I know I repeated that last one to my kids, which just gave them more ideas… they pulled all of the mattresses off the bed and onto the floor to jump on them. This rule apparently is no longer enforced once you become a grandmother… jumping on Grandma and Grandpa’s bed was enjoyed by all of the grandkids when they were little and it almost became a “tradition” for my kids to jump on the beds with my mom whenever we stayed in a hotel together. They loved telling me “Grandma told us to! ” on each occasion!
You are special… You are a child of God, created in His image, which means that no matter who you are or what you have or haven’t done, you are special because God made you special. Always treat yourself with the kindness and respect you would show to others. You are full of potential and designed for success!
