Online Batman Games – How Did We Get Here?

The Caped Crusader is almost legendary by now. Ever since this character was created in 1939, he has continued to be a highly popular hero of the comic books.

Batman has won a multitude of fans all over the world because of his great story line. Having made a modest beginning among the printed editions of the DC Comics, Batman has since then invaded the screens of not only TVs, but also movie theaters. Five editions of Batman movies have already been going around, with hundreds of TV shows depicting the animated series that have the Caped Crusader as their lead character.

Because of the extraordinary powers that Batman possesses, he is a perfect personality for computer games Arkadium Games. His gallant behavior enables the production of special games that are centered on him. Ocean Software has the credit of introducing the very first Batman game, during 1986. Jon Ritman along with Bernie Drummond worked to produce an action-packed, adventurous game, which originally was a solo player game, but subsequently was modified for being played by two users.

Quite a few Batman games got released during the course of time. Some of them were specially designed to be compatible with the previous editions of the Apple computers. The very first game so introduced was named Batman: The Caped Crusader, released 2 years later. It was produced by the same company, and Special FX was entrusted with its programming.

An additional game was produced one year later. This version could be run on a PC-based system having MS-DOS. It took some time for the production of another game, designed to be played on the NES gaming platform.

The title of the original Batman game for Game Boy was Batman: Return of the Joker. It was produced by Sunsoft in 1991. Soon thereafter it was followed by Batman: The Animated Series video game, which was fashioned by Konami for the same console.

With the introduction of the Play Station, Batman games needed to be designed for that platform also. For the original design of Play Station, three games were designed. For PlayStation II and III, four games were designed for each. The immense popularity enjoyed by Batman games prompted all the major game consoles, such as GameCube, Nintendo DS, Xbox and Wii, to design a version of this game.

Game testing, or more broadly, quality assurance testing, is the process of ironing out the kinks in a video game prior to its final release to the market. Generally speaking, before any video game for any console is released to the market, it has to undergo continuous bug tracking and repair.

The bug-tracking phase is performed by quality assurance personnel, or game testers. Game testers are always separate from the team that codes or programs the game itself.

A game tester may not know how to code, but his expertise is valued because he has the ability to observe, monitor, and record the bugs that emerge when gaming code is put to the final test: actual gameplay. Sure, a game tester may be dealing with an object that is used for entertainment and personal enjoyment.

However, the job itself is anything but. This is not to say that every gaming studio is horrible when it comes to quality assurance. However, you have to keep in mind that, like other employees, game testers may be subjected to certain pressures like deadlines.
